Khichdi or khichri is a famous vegetarian Indian dish made from rice and dal (lentils) which is easy to digest and wholesome. Done right, it can be incredibly tasty and healthy.
It is most commonly consumed in Gujarat and Rajasthan with Buttermilk or Curd. This dish is quite beneficial in case of any illness as it is easy to digest and full of nutrients. It makes a perfect full healthy meal.
It is traditional north Indian style of khichdi. You can choose any lentil with rice such as yellow moong dal, chana dal, green moong dal or even broken wheat or daliya also. In India doctors recommend Khichdi when a patient is recovering from any kind of illness or ailments like heart and liver ailments as its easy on our digestive tracts. Ingredients
1 Cup Rice
3/4 Cup Yellow Pigeon Lentil
Salt to taste
1/2 Tsp. Turmeric Powder How to Prepare Zero Oil Khichdi:
Ingredients
1 Cup Rice
3/4 Cup Yellow Pigeon Lentil
Salt to taste
1/2 Tsp. Turmeric Powder
Instructions
Wash and soak the rice and dal in water for atleast 20 minutes.
Drain the excess water and keep aside.
Add rice, dal, salt, turmeric powder with 4 cups of water.
Cover with lid and cook till you get 3-4 whistles on low flame.
Open the lid and mix well.
Transfer into serving plate and serve hot with curd and pickle.
