Q:

hello mommies,
do I have to train my baby to roll over? my MIL says him to put on floor on top of may so that he will roll by himself. is it true, please advise. baby is in 4th month now and I almost put him on cradle or our bed.
thankyou..

baby's 80% awake time shud be on the floor. bed and cradle cannot provide support or development to body or muscles. baby must be pushing on a hard surface. tummy time ideally starts from 1 week baby, if u have yet not started pls do so asap. no, you dont train your child to roll, or sit, or walk or run.

they figure it all out themselves  just leave them on the floor.. they domt need our help

and yes ur mil is absoulty right.

hi Kamalini Rao yeah , even though you don't need to exclusively train him as such, but keeping him always in the cradle or the bed will restrict his movements. What you also can do is, when the baby is active, you can keep him on a thin mattress on the floor. keep some toys around , or even use a play gym. That way he will get encouraged to explore around him :) It will be easier for you too since you won't have the fear of him rolling of the bed. Tc!

thanks Harneet Khurana and aditi manja I will keep this in mind and follow this. 👍👍

Instead on mat, can I put him on baby gym? does it help to roll?

Harneet (clanpedia)

surface needs to be hard.. the baby gym has very less surface .. u can get baby play mat.. they cover gud area on floor

Kamalini Rao

thank u so much harneet.. ordered this .. ❤

I'm using this play mat too for my baby Harneet Khurana and it's really good!
