Q:

hi Aditi Manja. I had gone through C sec. it's about 3mnths now. I feel my legs numb when I wake-up after sleeping or sitting. tell me whether I can sit cross legged I.e on floor. what excercise should I do to reduce tummy and back

aditi manja

the numbness in the legs could be due to weak joints. usually pregnancy hormones weaken our joints. Start on strengthening your legs. While sitting on a chair do leg raises and standing calf raises daily. You can do 2 to 3 sets of 30 to start with. For now take daily 30 minute walks a couple of times but not brisk. For the back you will have to do some back strengthening but you can start that after 6 months. When you are on the bed, do some back stretches like cat-cow (google up) and  take care of your posture too. Sitting crossed legged is fine but if you get any pinching pain avoid till it gets better.

numbness could be due to lack of vitb12..get all your tests done..for vitamin levels, calcium, thyroid, sugar etc..do some light exercises as suggested by fellow mom..keep your leg elevated while sleeping..you can do this by keeping a pillow beneath your leg..consult doc before taking any other supplements other than iron n calcium
