Q:

I have been facing this problem since quite a long now. My 9 months old dd usually wakes up crying (usually during the afternoon nap), sometimes she cries while asleep and then wakes up howling. It takes around 15 mins to pacify her. Nothing seems to settle her easily. Watching her cry, even my son wakes up crying and the situation becomes impossible to manage. It isn't because of stomach ache, hunger etc. What else could possibly be the reason? Is it something normal with the kids? Is there something I can do to comfort them or to avoid such a situation?

My son had the exact same and this continued for quite some time. At least 4-5 months. When i spoke to my Dr about it he said its apart of growing up. Children have bad dreams and this will reduce. He also advised. When they awake just give some water and make them relaxed. Assure them about reality . I used to say We are sleeping at home ...this is such a nice bed...use soothing stories or songs. All the best

Also try a nice soothing music or her fav story before bed
