Q:

The day when I conceive my weight was 55 kg in the month of march. Now my weight is 71 kg. Does weight plays an important role at the time of delivery.

Akanksha

yes, too much of weight can lead to problems.. gestational diabetes n all... plus it may also lead to c sec if the gyn thinks that would be better.. try to maintain a healthy weight and eat healthy :)

A T

echo u Akanksha. weight should definitely increase but I don't think that could be the only cause for diabetes or c sec. during my pregnancy my weight was perfectly fine but still had to undergo c sec as my baby's heart rate was fluctuating. stay fit and eat healthy.

Hi. It's always better to monitor your weight gain. It need not lead to complications but controled weight will surely help during and post pregnancy.

Sanha

how much weight gain is considered alright?

Dr.Aarushi Upadhyay (Thakkar)

15 to 25 kg weight gain in entire pregnancy is considered as normal weight gain.

Sanha

oh ok.. surprising my gynaec told me 10 - 12 kg. I do not have health issues nor was I over weight and was 63kg at the time of conceiving with a height of 5.7 feet

Tanu

normally 10-15 kg must get increase. if someone is too underweight then only 20 -22 kgs.

10-12 kg is healthy weight gain in pregnancy... Bt nt more than that.. Lil bit here n there is ok...

Dr. Riddhi Kataria

Weight gain depends on whether u were underweight or overweight before pregnancy. Healthy weight gain is gradual weight gain on 1-1.5 Kg per month with your baby weight in normal range in the sonographies. If all okay, then it's okay if u have gained 25 kilos also.
If you gain too much weight, you will be tired sooner in the marathon of labor.
If nothing else, atleast walk. To keep up ur stamina levels
