My baby doesn't feed for long...she feeds for5-7 minutes at one breast and falls off asleep...but she wakes up in half an hour or one and demands to be fed again. Her birth weight was 3.215 kg, and today is her 47th day with weight around 4.760 recorded 2 days back(45th day) she is gaining a little over 30gms every day. Is this feeding pattern on demand Ok???

The weight gain is on track and hence no cause for concern. The only challenge is to ensure that you have enough breaks in the middle. Try waking up the baby keep the baby unwrapped feed in a noisy environment wipe baby's face with a wet cloth etc.

She doesn't wake up when forced to and doesn't feed if woken up...only when she wakes up on her own she cares to drink... but il give it a try..thanks.

ideally if baby feeds for 20-25 mins at a go from one breast and then repeats the same in her next feed after 2 hours from the other breast, you will be fine. just try to set this kind of routine if you can (i know it's tough!). pls express from leaking breast and use breast pads. do change breast pads when they are completely soaked to avoid infection. tc
