Congratulations! By when are you planning for a baby?
Congratulations! How many weeks are you?
I have a
1 year old baby
Hi Soniya, please check my post on my page... Hope it will help...
The number of pores in each nipple are between 4-9. Express a little milk and you will be able to see the open pores from which milk comes. Long hours are not really needed, a feed can be typically thirty to forty five minutes. You can massage your breasts during a feed to help increase the fat content flow to the baby which will cause more satiety. Also keep track of the number of times the baby passed urine - minimum seven is what is required in a twenty four hour period. A baby will be fussy for many other reasons and for a new born it is mainly due to the fact that the world is completely new and unfamiliar. Try other calming techniques before turning to breast feeding. One more aspect that can get evaluated is if the baby's latch is correct for which you would need to see a Lactation counselor
I have to feed her for hours however she is still cranky and asks for feed. Hence I think the milk production is less. She keeps sucking and sleeps on me and I have to forcefully move her from me. And as soon as i take her out oy lap she starts crying. And if I give her formula milk she goes to sound sleep. I have tried expressing milk (15min each side) and the qty was fine for one feed close to 50-60 ml. Trust me these things are creating lot of confusion for me whether milk production is less and if i should give her formula milk. I am getting frustrated and stressed. Also please let me know using bottle is fine or should i use spoon and bowl.
soniya, bottle fed babies get nipple confusion. if you are having milk, then there is no low milk production, that is a myth. but yes, if you go for formula, then baby will drink less milk and thereby, your body will think milk requirement has dropped, and it will reduce milk. expressing milk cannot be used to decide the amount of milk you have. think of breastfeeding as trying to empty a river, it never gets empty, even as you are feeding the baby milk gets produced at the ducts, so only feeling of fullness of breast gets reduced. why baby cries after a feed, maybe she slept halfway. you have to keep waking them. why baby slept after formula? her stomach was filled because, sucking a bottle is not as tedious a task as breastfeeding. bf takes time for mom and baby to learn. but in the long run it has immense benefits.
soniya khurana initial days you feel like baby is breast feeding the entire day.. i remember sitting for endless hours... now it all seems like some distant dream... baby will get better at breastfeeding as days go by... you have to be patient...
