Q:

Is it safe to go ahead for pregnancy if fetus is having single umbical artery

Dr. Shilpitha Shanthappa

hi shilpa what has ur dr advised?

Dr. Neha D. Khodke Dr Mamta Goel pls advise

Hi Shilpa you can go ahead if the baby is fine and developed all the organs though the growth will be little late. Even I have single umbilical artery.

Ofcourse..
Just make sure to have regular monthly scans to check blood supply and fetal growth.. increase your protein intake, keep a check on fetal movements- after 22weeks..

Sorry missed this post... Please do; detailed level 2 scan from; good centre to look for any other associated anomalies;;; if they are not there then isolated single umbilical artery is not a problem at all except as Dr Shilpitha mentioned that you need to be careful about fetal growth as there could be be growth restriction in third trimester
