Q:

it is recommended to sleep in left side during pregnancy. m 30 weeks pregnant and feel uneasy in my sleeping positions during nights. does sleeping on sides can give stress to baby inside? m conscious if the baby inside is comfortable n not in any stress or pressures according to my left n right sleeping positions?

sleeping on right is also ok, as it is not possible to always sleep in one position when pregnant... only left brings more nutrients to baby... use pillows under your tummy, one between legs etc to make you more comfortable..

thanks Sheeba...my concern is that baby should not be uncomfortable as per our sleeping positions....i am sleeping on left n right sides mostly...jus for a few minites I need to sleep straight to comfort my back..

try to lie on your right side more your baby will get better blood circulation and you'll find him more active while sleeping on your left

smita, baby is inside a nice cushion type environment, at most he/she feels only gentle rocking movements... sleeping on the back is not recommended because the uterus can put pressure on a major vein that brings blood back from the lower body to the heart... this can cause dizziness to you. a few minutes may be ok, but u should not fall asleep during that time... and it is the left side which brings more circulation to baby...

you can change you side for a while when you feel uncomfortable. there is no harm. but mostly try to sleep in left. left side sleep ing means it provides good blood flow to you baby. avoid sleeping on back.

Harpreet Kaur

you are welcome dear.

Dr. Namita Shenai Vadhavkar

You have to sleep in positions comfortable to you. The baby is perfectly fine inside sleeping in a cushion and protected well. Sleeping on the right is recommended to ease the stress on the body organs and also aims to aid in digestion and ease acidity.
