Dr. Shilpitha Shanthappa

hello shradda..
firstly, Have u undergone Cervical stitch??
if so then can u plz mention when??

Dr. Shilpitha Shanthappa

Normally, in the late second and early third trimester the cervical length measures between 3 cm to 3.5 cm (30-35mm) and decreases progressively as the pregnancy advances, in preparation for labor..cervical length of 2.5-3cms(25–30 mm) before 32 weeks gestation seems to increase the risk of preterm delivery..If ultrasound shows there is short cervix, and  less than 24 weeks pregnant, doc may recommend- cervical stitch...

Dr. Shilpitha Shanthappa

And about uterine relaxants and progesterone- u can continue till end..it ll reduce the risk of pre term delivery

Dr. Shilpitha Shanthappa

As fetal weight is beared by uterus n cervix- yes, babies weight influence on stitches too..hence,precautions r taken to avoid preterm labour, water breakage etc..

Dr. Shilpitha Shanthappa

Precautions follows take bed rest, avoid doing strenous household chores, avoid intercoarse, lifting heavy objects, no exercises...

Dr. Shilpitha Shanthappa

and about difference of cervical length measurement in USG and clinically - Yes bcz USG ll give us a gross idea..but clinically doctor ll be knwing whether tht cervical length is short or not..

Dr. Shilpitha Shanthappa

Shraddha Ranaware..if u ve any queries plz ask...and sorry fa the delay..

I have answered this question

yes doctors decide on the basis of clinical examination and USG. each have their distinct benefits and limitations. rest medications is tightening ( in case of short cervix) and positive attitude give best results. all the best
