Q:

#weaning
Hi, my son is 1.5year old, vegetarian. Could you please help me with a plan on his diet, since I want to ensure all his nutrients requirements are satisfied. Also, at times he eats well, say 1 medium bowl of porridge, but sometimes it's just half a bowl or so. Also, in the mornings if I give him a glass of milk, he refuses to eat breakfast. Please help... Thanks so much in advance

The serving size for a one and a half year old is one fourth that of an adult although they need to eat six to eight small meals. This is due to the fact that they are overly active and don't like to sit in one place to eat. Serve all family foods keeping the different food groups in mind
grains - unrefined like wheat Ragi oats
vegetables and fruits all varieties
proteins - pulses legumes eggs meat nuts
Milk protein - whole cream milk
Plenty of water as the weather is warm and choose unsaturated oils for cooking.
Avoid too much of sweets fried foods and other junk items.

Thank you so much for answering my query.

Can I give him breads or toast?

Sonali Shivlani

You can but get a whole wheat or multi grain version from a bakery. Limit to two or three times a week.
