Congratulations! By when are you planning for a baby?
Congratulations! How many weeks are you?
I have a
1 year old baby
Jai shri, my baby started this habit from her third month. She puts her whole fist and started chewing. Initially i thought she is hungry. Later i came to know it is a hand and mouth co ordination. Just keep her nails and hand clean. Sheeba Vijesh, your thoughts on this please?!
Thanks Sangeetha Karuna
it may b the sign of hunger..
Nothing to worry. It's normal and all baby's do this. They are trying to get familiarise with the things. They will try to feel things by keep in their mouth. It's natural. When you see baby doing this... slowly and gently you can remove hands and talk to baby. Buy some teethers ( with no sharp edges). Now you have to keep things away from baby. Don't keep any paper, plastic, cartoon box or any items near to baby.
As they chew... they will drool a lot.. So keep wiping their mouth, cheek and below neck with soft, clean cotton cloth. Orelse baby may develop rashes. Click some snaps... it's one of the milestone I feel.
thanks dear Roopashree Siddireddy
Sangeetha Karuna and Roopashree Siddireddy are absolutely right. do not mistake it for hunger... because right after feed also baby will do it. baby is discovering her body, nd she just found she has hands! how wonderful is that!? you can try giving her small rattles, so that slowly she will also learn to grasp objects...
welcome jai shri
thanks for the tag Sangeetha Karuna
sure Sheeba Vijesh, i keep on removing hand from her mouth, but again she vl keep..,
ya, its ok... buy some rattle she can hold... soon she will be able to hold that and forget about putting hand in mouth... but ofcourse, she will put everything else in their mouth, it is how they learn about their surroundings... so keep those toys clean, as well...
it's normal oly
