Sonali Shivlani can you assist?
Fruits which are non sweet like citrus, apple, pear etc can be taken. However it is always best to know the level of sugar and then follow a Nutrition plan. Most of the times when mom has GD we would balance fruit snacks with a protein snack to lower the glycemic load. Please do consult a nutrionist for proper guidance.
apples, pear and papaya. i had gestatational diabetes too so much so that i was taking insulin shots 3 times a day. pls chk papaya with ur gyno. i was asked specially to take one bowl of it everyday.
Hi Swati, do consult a Dietician for a well balanced diet.
Regarding fruit, u can have pomegranate, apple, orange.
Strictly avoid, rice, potatoes, carrot and banana. If allowed by Gynae do mild exercises.
Take smaller meals and did ur Endocrinologist asked u to take sugar test at home ?
It's gud to keep check at blood sugar levels at home.
Hi, Harneet I have a curious question, does taking insulin results in preterm labour ?
could u plz share, at abt how many weeks you started taking insulin and delivered at what what week ?
thank you Priya , Sonali , Harneet and Varsha..
I'm not taking any insulin.. controlling with diet and checking sugar levels once per 3 days.. fasting its around 95 ( some times 96 and 98 ) and 2hrs after having meal it's around 120 ( sometimes 127 , 139, 124).. those values are fine or should I take insulin ?
hi Varsha mine was a csection so i have no idea if it causes preterm.labour. this was my second c section and my gyno was very clear that we wre not going for a normal delivery ( i had high sugar, high bp and my weight was a whopping 92 kgs) i took insulin for abt 2 weeks, and like all csections i was operated in my 38th week.
The values look fine though fasting should be under 95.
Be in touch with an Endocrinologist, do not take any Injection or Medicine without Dr.Prescription.
Thanks for the reply Harneet !
I just heard when ppl start insulin their labour start soon, not sure it's just a myth or fact.
