Q:

Hi all mommies.. i just delivered my baby girl. Ydsy doc said she has slight jaundice and she needs phototheraphy which was given to her.
I am a bit concerned that will she be okay. Doc has asked me to keep her in sunlight. But how do i put her i dont know. Any one having any idea about it?
Also is it okay to swaddle the babies. They told me while discharge not to swaddle but i feel she is more happy when i swaddle her. Any opinions?

Hey don't worry dear ...my baby too had jaundice when born though it was marginal yet precautionary measures were taken .;; Sunlight we used keep her morning 8 and it helped ...
Not sure why they told not to swaddle ...follow the instructions...take care

Hey khushboo, sweetheart jaundice is normal in babies offlate. What was her bilrubin level? How many days was she on phototherapy? Alright,my paed gave me a very funny metaphor but it does work. He said, just like you sekofy roti,do the same with baby twice, morning and evening. So practically, just take off her clothes and make her lie on her back for half hour and on her tummy for half hour inside the room where sunlight comes ( usually prior to 9 am is suggested but my paed said anytime will work). Just ensure her eyes are protected. Hope she gets well soon!

Congratulations Khushboo for baby girl😊
Dont worry at all, its very common to have jaundice in newborn babies.
Key is to breastfeed baby as much as you can.; jaundice goes away on its own as a baby’s liver develops and as the baby begins to feed, which helps bilirubin pass through the body. It goes in one or two weeks.
You can keep her in sunlight before 9 am. if its not possible you can take the sun light and vitamin will be passed through your bm; thats what my doctor said.
Dont take much tension and enjoy every moment with your baby. she will be fine soon.

Hey khushboo, many congrats! !I've been through the same scenario.I was so worried then.Later I got to know that it has become quite common these days, though the reason is unknown. Please make sure you show her sunlight before 8am in the morning.15minutes would be fine.I used to sit in my veranda(where there was enough sunlight),with baby on my lap.Like ritu said, yake off her clothes during this time.If you're given vit D; drops, please give her without fail. She will be ok soon.cheer up!
