I was lucky to be part of a babywearing workshop organized by another Mom community where Rashmee Gajaria explained in detail, the concept of babywearing, its advantages and showed the different kinds of carriers that exist. It is interesting how a long rectangular cotton cloth could be worn so effectively for mutual benefit of the Mom and baby. Must say, Rashmee is extremely passionate about the topic and could answer any queries you may have - on scientific benefits, which carrier is suitable for what age, different materials used to make the carriers. She demonstrated a few in the workshop and the infants fell fast asleep in those. There are ones for older children (toddlers) with belts and some which are specially liked by fathers. The variety is large. There's also a group on Facebook - Anmol Wrap Support for those who wear their babies and discuss the different aspects of carrying their babies and help each other in case of any issues. My 2 year old though, has already got too used to her independence so wasn't very comfortable. But those who are used to being carried since infancy happily latch on to their Moms/Dads/ even grandparents even when they grow up.
