We, Raynah and Peter have experienced a natural water birthing and like every birth has a story to tell “So Do We”
This is the story of our Second baby “Alston”. His Birth was not even close to being Normal/Natural, But due to
The tremendous discipline of Raynah in keeping the Diabetes and thyroid under control,
Extensive research/Study done by us,
Presence & the right attitude towards natural birthing of Dr. Veda Simmons of Dr. Sherekar’s hospital
And Most Important, the Prayers and Blessings of our Parents, relatives and friends.
We have experienced this Natural Birth.
This Pregnancy was termed a High risk pregnancy as Raynah had Gestational Diabetes for which she was on light dose of insulin, Hypo-thyroid, and a history of Previous C-section. She was advised to go into a C-section in the 7th month of the pregnancy for the above reason(Till the 7th month we were told that Normal delivery is possible). On doing our research on the net we found that Normal delivery is possible in the above cases if the diabetes and Hypothyroid is under control, and the scar thickness is good.
In the 36th week we found out about Dr Veda, a well experienced gynaecologist who totally supported us in our decision and efforts to have a Normal Delivery. She gave us the assurance that she will be personally present and oversee the delivery. We went to the hospital twice in the 41st week but were sent back as they were false labour pains, had it been any other hospital we would have ended in a C-section( In our 1st baby “Ethan” case we went to the hospital with some pain at 39 weeks, which we assumed and the hospital doctor confirmed it was labour pain, after 2 hrs the labour was induced by breaking the water bag, and later after 6 hrs delivered by C-section. Our gynaecologist came only when the C-section had to be performed).
Alston was delivered at 41weeks and 6 days. Due to the support and close monitoring of Dr Veda we were allowed to keep the pregnancy this long. Given our case of previous C-section, Gestational Diabetes, and Hypothyroidism, We don’t think any doctor would allow us and most importantly give his/her time to even try for a Normal delivery.
Dr. Veda doesn’t make you feel like you are dealing with a “doctor” you come across these days. She would regularly keep in touch via Phone and whatsapp. We could freely ask any of our queries( and we had plenty of them) and she would patiently answer each one of them. The Hospital is fully equipped for any emergency with an operation theatre, baby care facilities, paediatrician and anesthetist but at the same time does not give a feel like a hospital with the clean and cozy rooms and home like food and services.
We thank Dr Veda for being with us, Her Family for all the motivation and for making the hospital feel like home, the Staff of the hospital for the wonderful service. God Bless.
