I had been insisting the hubby to take our tiny family to California Pizza Kitchen. After much scheduling and rescheduling on several weekends, we drove the long distance to Indiranagar.
In the busy street of 100 Ft Road on a drizzling Saturday night, CPK's dedicated parking space was truly a life saver. Else, a hungry toddler in the car can get a little troublesome. My then-three-year-old son's eyes lit up as soon as we stepped in. I vaguely remember him being astounded by the entryway. Interiors were undeniably eye catching.
The staff was courteous and gave us a good seating area to our choice. Even before the water was brought to our table, my son was given a colouring booklet and some crayons! I don't know how much more a child's eyes can light up!? This was definitely the focus of our visit.
We ordered our son's choices first - pasta and a green apple lemonade. The pop ordered
Spicy Chicken Supreme (twice) while I checked out one of their much-publicised thin-crust pizzas. My son actually ate what we had ordered.
That's a first. Surprise, surprise. Pasta was average. Pizza and the chicken were unique. I understand CPK is always on the experimenting spree when it comes to their pizza menu.
What I noted at this restaurant was that the staff genuinely wanted their customers to be happy. They didn't mind when my son was running all over their spacious restaurant to take a break from eating and drinking; in fact, they co-operated with a smiling face. A guy (probably the manager) came over to our table to enquire if everything was to our expectation. We nodded in the positive.
To end the dinner, my son demanded for a chocolate brownie. I'm so glad he's a chocolate lover (it's so easy for me to finish up in the rare event if he doesn't!). It was not just any chocolate brownie, believe me. It was topped with a huge dollop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and a cherry! I cannot forget my son's eyes lighting up again!
CPK is no doubt on the pricey side but for the service, food and fun rendered - it all vanishes when you see your child(ren) having a pleasant time. I reckon reserving a table in advance.
