#imbecca #watermelonrindhalwa #zerowaste One thing I learnt (Actually I learnt many things) from this Covid 19 Pandemic is Zero Waste. Though we are in Orange Zone and getting all the essentials like groceries, Milk, meat, vegetables and fruits I make sure not to waste anything. We were buying lots of water melon (Blame the weather ufff) , I could see the water melon rinds going to the dustbin. I saw this rcp and immediately tried it, So only the water melon skin goes to the dustbin. Recipe: Peel the water melon skin, Cut and remove the pink part to eat, the light green is the rind. Rinds - 2 cups Grated( squeeze and remove all the water, it has to be tight packed when we press) Use the water in soups or simply pour it for the plants ( Remember 0 waste 😁) Sugar - 1 cup Ghee- 3 table spoon Cardamon powder Ghee fried Cashews- few Take a preassure cooker add ghee, then arrange the nicely squeezed watermelon rinds, add sugar and cardamom powder. Close the lid and keep it on fire, let it be in full flame. Cook for 20 whistles or till you get the caramelized smell, switch off and release the pressure. Add the ghee fried cashews, Mix and close the lid. Let it sit for 10 or 15 mins. Open and serve.
Do try at home and let me know how it is.

We love to throw parties for our kids. Every year we anticipate what the theme should be and prepare for it with great love and enthusiasm.
But every party also creates a lot of plastic waste. While we hope and wish for a long life for our kids, the pollution is threatening their health and wellbeing. Let’s start with giving them an all-natural birthday party every year. Do away with disposable glasses, plates, spoons etc. Serve water from a dispenser. And use only natural material decorations.
It all begins right at the beginning. Arrival of a new baby brings many anxieties and the market seems to have a product for every thing but actually not everything is needed or is beneficial for the child.
Pause for a moment and consider reducing the wastage as you bring up your child. They don’t need so many things. Keep them free of single-use plastics and bring them up as naturally as possible. Consider cloth nappies and reusable diapers. They will learn from you. If they see you care for the environment, they will too.
We all know how toxic our air has become. So much so that there are actual deaths due to severe air pollution. Kids specially suffer due to the pollutants in the air caused by vehicles and factories.
We can do our bit to reduce it. Start by not using private vehicles at least for short distances and wherever avoidable.
Walking and cycling to nearby markets or for other small distances is a great option which is healthy and even less stressful than driving. Cars are not a symbol of luxury now, they are the gas guzzlers threatening our kids’ healths. Think ! #saveplanetearth#energysavemode#earthday2019#savefuel#carpool#walking#cycling#zerowaste
