By now you and those around you have gotten used to the mood swings – it’s absolutely okay to swing between emotions of being elated and terrified at the same time. Cut yourself some slack. These mood swings ease in the second trimester.

For expecting moms who are working, you should start planning to manage your maternity leave. According to the Maternity Benefit Act in India, you are entitled to six months of maternity leave. You can avail this leave from a month before your estimated due date as well!

Every organization has a different maternity leave policy so make sure you understand your company’s policies from your organisation’s Human Resources department.

If you are not ready to share the good news just yet, wait for the 12th week. Read the company policy as early as you can since you need to acquaint yourself with the laws that decide your – leave during illness in pregnancy, nature of work during pregnancy and wrongful dismissal during pregnancy!
