Congratulations! You have begun the second trimester! This is the fun phase of being pregnant as most of those annoying pregnancy symptoms are fading away. Your soon-to-be big-n-strong munchkin is about 3 inches long (size of a pea pod) and weighs about 23 grams.

On the physical front, tiny fingerprints are now forming. This is also the time when your baby is going to learn sucking. A big physical development, if you’re carrying a boy, his testicles have formed and the penis is growing. If you are pregnant with a girl, her ovaries which have more than 2 million eggs are formed. The brain is developing fast too, becoming more complex. The part of the brain which is responsible for complex thoughts like problem-solving and memory etc is slowly taking shape.

Your baby now swallows amniotic fluid which contains essential nutrients like carbohydrates, protein, glucose and electrolytes. Any excess fluid is turned into urine by your baby’s kidneys. This will find its way wee back into the amniotic fluid.
