Feasting & Fasting: Best Places to Enjoy Navratra Thalis in Delhi

20 Sep 2017 | 3 min Read

Eating out in Navratri can be something you look forward to, if you are in Delhi-NCR. Special Navratri thalis are served in select restaurants, some of which also serve food for a fast.

The restaurants which serve Navratra thalis do not use onions, garlic and everyday cereals in this “vrat ka khana”. These dishes are prepared using desi ghee and pure salt instead of ordinary refined oil and commonly used table salt.

Here are the ‘thalis’ I recommend:

  • Veg Gulati

Veg Gulati is famous for its North Indian cuisine. Long waiting queues outside this place is common but the food served is worth every second spent waiting outside. A bit on the expensive side but the food is sure to appeal to your taste buds.

Where is it located: Shop No.8, Pandara Road Market, New Delhi- 110003.

  • Sagar Ratna

Sagar Ratna is a chain of South Indian restaurants in various parts of Delhi. Their Navratri thali contains dishes like sabudana khichdi, singhade ke pakode, sabudana wada, sitafal, kuttu ki puri to name a few.

Where is it located: Connaught Place, Rajinder Nagar, Chanakyapuri, Defence Colony, Paschim Vihar

  • Haldiram

The Navratri thali at Haldiram is a cause of eternal delight! They serve a large variety of dishes like – vrat ke chawal, sukhi arbi, paneer tomato, kuttu ki puri, soma rice and shrikhand, to name a few.

Where is it located: Connaught Place, Moti Nagar, Gurgaon, Naraina, Lajpat Nagar 2

  •  Sattvik

Sattvik is a luxury dining place for vegetarians who love North Indian food. Its delicious food and elegant ambience makes it worth trying out!

Where is it located: S-5, 2nd Floor, Select City Walk Mall, Saket, New Delhi

  •  Govinda’s

Located inside the premises of Iskcon temple, Govinda’s is a pure vegetarian restaurant which traditionally offers meals to Lord Krishna first. Special Navratri thalis here have a certain purity and divinity about it.

Where is it located: Ground Floor, Iskcon Temple complex, Raja Dirsain Marg, Hari Krishna Hill, East of Kailash, New Delhi.
