How to Take Care of Your Baby’s Skin During the Lockdown

Spending time indoors while doing all the household chores yourself has become the new normal, all thanks, or no thanks to the ongoing pandemic. The lockdown has thrown our routines out of gear, and if you have a baby at home, this time is especially trying. Your baby’s feeding, bathing and sleeping routine might have gone off track and some routines might be on a pause, but there’s one routine that shouldn’t be ignored, and that is a healthy skincare routine.

Why does your baby need a proper skincare routine during the lockdown?

Your baby’s skin is extremely tender and sensitive, and needs extra care. When compared to an adult, a baby’s skin has a higher pH and loses moisture easily. Babies’ bodies also cannot adjust body temperature as effectively as an adult’s.

Since we’re indoors for long periods of time during monsoons, , our skin either becomes sweaty and sticky due to humidity, or we tend to feel cold due to the sudden drop in temperature. When the humidity is high, the skin tends to dry out due to continuous exposure to the air conditioner.

How can I keep my baby’s skin healthy indoors?

With the right products and a dedicated skincare routine, you can ensure that your little one’s skin is soft, and healthy.

If you’re using the air conditioner, see to it that your little one is not directly exposed to the draft of cold air. Doctors also recommend that you limit the use of air conditioners during the day so that the baby gets used to the natural weather. If you do use the air conditioner, maintain the temperature between a comfortable 23-27 degrees.

Don’t forget to wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water before you bathe your baby to prevent any infection. Ensure that you and your little one are sufficiently hydrated throughout the monsoons.

We hope that you and your family stay safe and healthy during the pandemic.
