I am a coffee lover who loves her cuppa anytime of the day! If you are one too you will agree that it is not enjoyable to have it out if there aren’t enough places to keep the little one entertained while we indulge ourselves. And so, the same old restaurant that you have visited countless times before becomes your default choice because it is kid friendly.

Well this coffee lover Mom is here to get you sorted!

Here are a few personally sourced cafes where you can have your cuppa and your kiddo can have a good time as well. In fact these are ideal for the entire family!

  • Dice and Dine:

Doesn’t the name say it all! They have an inexhaustible collection of 400 games. And there is always someone to help you select. Ambience is neat, comfortable and just super relaxing. Their food is quite delicious as well; lots of options for the kids – especially must try out milkshakes like Ferrero Rocher and their pizzas. Of course, the coffee for grown-ups. You will be charged an entry fee but this is redeemable against food orders.

How it beats a restaurant: Well, it has coffee and many types, plus it is a café so the vibe is casual, laidback and not to forget the 400 games.

  • Art Blend Cafe:

This cafe brings two things that any Mom would love to hear – Coffee and Hobby. Art Blend Cafe conducts regular art and craft workshops from jewelry making to origami to clay modelling. Now here is a place where you can laze and have your coffee while you kid is busy honing their creative side. That’s a win-win if you ask me. Do call up before you plan to visit to get more details on what workshops are being conducted.

How it beats a restaurant: The workshops, of course! Kids love learning new things every day. They learn something new while you get your caffeine fix. Period!

  • Enerjuvate Health Studio and Cafe:

This quirky cafe/restaurant is unique not only with the food it serves but also the way it’s done up. I say unique because they serve healthy veg food  that is as yummy as junk food minus all the unwanted calories. This gem is nestled in a street parallel to busy Jayanagar, opposite RV Dental College. Bright, colorful and full of zest is the vibe here. They also conduct many workshops here from Ballet to Yoga for kids and adults respectively. The menu serves includes Antioxidant Smoothies to Carrot Ginger Ale to pizzas made of Amarnath wheat crust. They also have healthy desserts like Banana Oat choco chip vegan cake; they had me at Banana Oat!

How it beats a restaurant: This place is like a restaurant minus all the frills of fine dining which is a plus when you have kids in tow. Let your kid play with the games they have on shelf or call ahead a take up a trial class.

  • Cafe High on Life:

This place is more than your regular cafe; it is filled with activities, games and hobby classes. All served up with some yummy food like sandwiches and also their famous fruit-based Pani Puri. This is an apt place for a lazy Sunday afternoon with the family. Their ambience screams “please come in”. With white picket fences and everything green and red, it is hard to not notice. They also have guitar classes and painting workshops, among others.

How it beats a restaurant: The whole no nonsense vibe. The fact that this place makes families connect with one another sand gadgets says something. Kids can enjoy their own space with games or take up a class.

  • Atta Galatta:

This place is any bookworm’s candy store; you walk in and are welcomed with shelves of books lining the walls. Neatly arranged tables all calling out to you to pick a book and sit down and read till the café closes. If your kid is a reader then s/he will love this place! If they aren’t then it’s time to get them started. They have over 10,000 books in all regional languages. Did you say Malayalam, yup they do, Bengali? Of course! Apart from this they regularly have poetry readings, storytelling and other workshops for kids. They screen movies too. Their menus consist of burgers, sandwiches, samosas and cutlets and are quite delicious.

How it beats a restaurant: Well, show me any restaurant that has 10,000 books. This is a good place to expose your kid to the joy of reading. Drop by when they have one of their storytelling workshops which the kids will definitely enjoy. A good place to hang out on a rainy evening.

What are you waiting for? Plan your weekend around one of these off-beat cafes and get started! Let me know in comments if you know of other places that I may have missed!
