Bollywood – the Tinsel Town… where actors and actresses make millions of hearts skip a beat, every single day!! The lives they live on-screen and the roles they play, leave a mark forever on our hearts and minds.

As young girls, I am sure we were not different, often mesmerized by the roles our actors played and the outfits they wore. I will not be wrong in saying that most of us even remember their songs & dialogues word-by-word, even if it has been years since we last heard any of those.

Way before marriage happened to most of us, we were girls in a hopelessly romantic relationship with  our Bollywood heroes!

Let’s take a trip down memory lane and re-live our recent and some not-so-recent crushes a bit. Sigh….

1. Shahrukh Khan as Raj in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

We hated Raj for being Super mean in the beginning, but eventually fell in love with what a gentleman he was. It took us by surprise how he fell in love with a simple girl and then we were swooning over him for singing songs in the ‘chane ke khet’ and feeding grains to the pigeons. When in the climax,  the train was leaving the station, we almost felt compelled to leave our own seats and run to hop onto the train with him. Damn, Simran won!

2. Salman Khan as Aman Verma in Kuch Kuch Hota hai

That Handsome looking NRI from London, the smooth talker, the ladies’ man … sigh!! The intensity with which he loved the leading lady was touching. He’d be willing to go to any lengths to prove his love for his lady – whether it meant wooing her mother, or allowing her to be with the love of her life. Charming and Aman Verma should have been synonyms.

3. Ranveer Singh as Ricky Bahl in Ladies VS Ricky Bahl

One look at Ricky and you know he’s a silly fellow who wouldn’t do anything in life. You wonder why the girl falls for this silly boy in the first place. But then the story progresses and you see Ricky on the beach, in his white shirts, smooth talking and charming the girls and you lose your heart to him. Brownie points for the clean-shave boyish looks!

4. Ranbir Kapoor as Janardhan Jakhar in Rockstar

An immature, idiotic Delhi boy who can barely do one single thing right in life, is probably the guy who never gets the girl. But his love and his failures are what make a weird Janardhan into the crazy, rowdy, musical sensation Jordan. How he unravels himself, how he depicts and yet conceals his painful love, how he ruins himself in guilt, how he revisits his moments with his girl…don’t you think all of that is enough to make us fall in love with him again?

And when you watch ‘Nadaan Parinde’, you are a done deal!

5. Aamir Khan as Ranchod Das Chanchad in 3 Idiots

Aamir Khan has played tons of roles where he swept us off our feet, but this one is among my personal favorites – the ingenious boy next door who is over smart yet cute! His logic about life is pretty sorted and he thinks with both his heart and brain. When he vanishes and never returns, it does make you upset and totally justifies the tight slap he gets towards the end of the movie. And yes, we genuinely go with Kareena, Chanchad and Wangdu did not go well with the name Priya!

6. Amitabh Bachchan in every movie he has acted in, ever!

Dessert is served last!  Amitabh Bachchan has had women across generations just fall heads over heels in love! This phenomenal actor transformed the men of our dreams from being fair and handsome, to being tall, dark and handsome. He’s changed our lives forever. Whether he played the Angry Young Man in Deewar, or the goofy Super Hero in Shahenshah, whether he played the separated partner in Baghban (oh gosh, the thought of the movie still gives me the chills) to playing the adorable cranky father obsessed with his constipation – Piku. We have seen everyone in Amitabh Bachchan. He gave us crushing goals in his movie ‘Cheeni Kam’!

Sigh! This has been one great write up and has taken us to dreamlands that we thought we hadn’t visited in a long time. Would you like to read a Part – II of this article? Do let us know in comments. Do share it with your friends so they can reminisce about the good ol’ days too!

This a short list compared to the long list of chocolaty-crushes we’ve had in Bollywood, but I do  hope we could hit some soft spots!

Happy Crushing Mommas 🙂 !!
