It is absolutely normal to feel stressed about  introducing babies to purees and mashed food after having exclusively breastfed them for 6 months. It can be confusing as well. But try not to worry too much and make sure you enjoy this phase as well with your baby!

Quick Tip

When baby rejects the bitter taste of green or dense veggies, try adding a spoonful or two of sweet potato puree.

Millets Porridge

Ingredients:

  • Onion, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup millet
  • 2 tsp. ghee
  • 3 cups  vegetable/chicken broth
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Cumin seeds

Sauté the onion and when it softens, add the millets and cumin seeds.

Let the millets be cooked until lightly brown.

Add broth, reduce the heat and cook for 15-20 minutes.

Fork in the ghee, toss well and serve warm.

Apple Pear and Millets Porridge

Ingredients:

  • Millets
  • Pear
  • Apple

Place millets in a strainer and wash.

Add th washed millets, pear and apple to a small pot and cook for 30–40 minutes until  the millet is puffy and porridge is thick and smooth.

Remove the apple and pear pieces and mash with fork. Add back the mashed fruit to the porridge and gently stir. Serve warm.
