Millet Khichdi: My Child’s Favorite Food

Recently, I shared the healthy benefits of including Millets in your baby’s dietI keep making a variety of baby food with Millet and my daughter has already started liking the taste

Here’s how I make an easy and quick Khichdi:

Ingredients-

Any Millets of your  choice (I used Little millet) – 1 cup

Moong dal – 1/2 cup

Jeera/Cumin

Pepper powder

Ginger

Asafoetida

Curry leaves

Ghee/Butter

Salt to taste

Procedure-

  • Fry millets and moong dal in a pressure cooker with ghee until they turn golden brown and aromatic. Add 3 cups of water and pressure cook it for 4 whistles and allow it to cool.
  • In a pan, add a little ghee, cumin, asafoetida, ginger, pepper powder and curry leaves to temper.
  • Add pressure cooked millets and dal to the pan and mix well.
  • Lastly, add a little coriander to garnish.

You can add veggies to the above recipe as well  to add on nutrition. Chop carrot, beans, potato, cauliflower and pressure cook along with millets and dal.

Do let me know, if you have any interesting recipes.
