Practicing yoga daily in your breastfeeding period has a lot of benefits. It supports breast milk production, improves breast milk quality, reduces body pain, improves flexibility, reduces stress, reduces muscle tension, helps body toning, and helps reduce excess pregnancy weight.

Breastfeeding is a tedious phase that comes with all the anxiety of the newborn, the stress, as well as postpartum healing. It is important to keep calm and relax your mind and body to maintain good health as well as support healthy breastfeeding for your little one.

3 such yoga poses that can help relax the nursing/ breastfeeding moms include:

Padmasana or the Lotus pose

·         Start by sitting in Ardha Padmasana with your right foot placed over your left thigh

·         Then lift your left foot and gently place it on your right thigh (upward-facing)

·         Now by pulling your feet closer to the hips gently drop your knees touching the floor.

·         Placing your palms on your knees (upward-facing) hold this position, close your eyes, and concentrate on your breathing.

·         Repeat these steps with the other leg.

Setu Bandha Sarvangasana or Bridge pose

·         Lie flat on the ground facing upwards.

·         Bend your knees by placing your feet flat.

·         Place your arms on the sides and gently lift your hips keeping the hips, knee, and shoulder in a straight line.

·         Hold the position for a few seconds and then gradually come back to the original position.

Chakravakasana or Cat-Cow pose/ stretch

·         Get in a table position keeping your spine neutral.

·         Inhale and tilt your back and pelvis into the cow pose.

·         Hold for a few seconds

·         Then exhale while tucking your tailbone for the Cat pose.

·         Repeat this exercise 3-4 times.

These 3 yoga poses help relax the mind as you concentrate on your breathing, help reduce muscle tension, improve blood circulation, and destress your body.
