How Meditation Can Help Every Mom?

With a toddler and a 5-year-old at home, life becomes a chaotic cacophony at times. Even the slightest noise sounds blaring! Super stressed I either vent out my frustration to my Mom or rant over WhatsApp to my BFF. Somehow, it was becoming a way of life and soon I realised, that I am losing my calm and all the chaos is taking a toll on my health (physical and mental).

It was Dec 2015 and one of the days, I had an epiphany of sorts. I  understood, no one can help me beat my stress unless I, myself, bring about a lifestyle modification. I decided to start meditation. But finding the right time to meditate was the big concern. The only choice I had was early morning –like 5:30 a.m.

That’s perhaps one of the best decisions I have made in the recent times. These days, I am more calm and composed and mostly importantly, feel very positive – that my husband says it’s infectious!

Here are 3 reasons why every mom needs to meditate daily

1. Be the Healthy and Hearty Mom

Regular meditation helps in secreting health promoting  hormones. Meditation enhances the production of oxytocin- the love hormone. This hormone accentuates the maternal bonding with the kids. Also, the Human Growth Hormones (HGH) released during meditation improve your health, keep your menstruation cycle in check and also you will notice that your skin has improved much. If you continue to meditate daily, you will be much more happy and at peace ( and peace is all we crave for!).

2. Mommy Confidence

With regular meditation, you will gain a certain kind of ‘Mommy confidence’. You become more practical than unnecessarily emotional. You will find yourself less confused and will be able to make decisions easily and quickly. Also, you learn to let go of a bad parenting moment (come on! we all have it) instead of killing yourself over it.

3. Buh-bye Stress and Negativity!

Meditation reduces the effect of stress-causing, age-accelerating hormone- ‘cortisol’. With the abundance of oxytocin, released during meditation, Moms feel a lot more relaxed and sorted. With time, you will learn to sort issues in a better way, without getting easily frustrated. When you meditate, it’s silence all around and that makes it possible to nip off any type of negative thoughts at its root.

4. Connect with self

Meditation regulates the natural flow of energy through us, which processes our sensory awareness and emotional perception. So as a result, you will not only develop self-healing properties but will also be able to heal your children through your positive energy. Meditation means an active Mom, healthy kids and a happy home.

Meditation, indeed, is the wonderful way of life for Moms. It helps you embrace positivity and and most importantly, you get a better grip on yourself. Just try implementing it in your daily regime and discover a new side to yourself. Not only you, but your kids (and hubby too) will simply love this new you!
