Like all moms, the end of maternity leave, means a new form of stress.

Sure you have figured breastfeeding, and rocking your child to sleep is now a no-brainer!. You seem to know how to tackle the child’s needs, or at least you think so, as solid introduction / crawling / potty training seem like distant challenges! But, figuring who will take care of the apple of your eye poses some important challenges, especially for women.

Nanny vs. daycare is a critical decision, but if you have decided the latter, here are some uber cool options in Domlur / Indiranagar, that you’ll love.

1. Being Child: It’s a wonderful option that I discovered through fellow-mommies. Being Child takes in babies as young as 5 months, and have a CCTV monitored space, that you can log-in and check, whenever you like! Proves to say how confident they are about their quality, hygiene and care-taking!

Pros:

  • Willing to take in the child for 3 hours / day as well, in case you’re planning a quick movie outing
  • Open space to play and engage
  • Babies inducted as early as 5 months
  • Can prepare and offer food, if you’d like
  • Extremely hygienic
  • Dynamic remote monitoring through CCTV

Cons:

  • Can’t think of any!

Working hours: 8 am to 8 pm

Cost: 1500 / hour

2. Baby’s Day In: It’s a very homely environment, run by Dr. Jyothi, a PHDian and a Montessorian, the child is in good hands. The daycare is simply a cottage converted, and has a small play area at the porch.

Pros:

  • Willing to take in the child for 3 hours / day as well, in case you’re planning a quick movie outing
  • Babies inducted as early as 2 months
  • The kids seem extremely attached to the owner, Jyothi, so much so she often accompanies for doctor visits etc. so the child cooperates!
  • Encourage cloth diapering

Cons:

  • Support staff are scanty, and not available throughout the day
  • Open space not available to play and engage
  • Do not prepare and offer food

Working hours: 8 am to 6 pm

Cost: 1400 / hour

3. Janathi Montessori House of Children: It’s yet another not easy to discover, but truly a hidden gem. Headed by Radha, a montessori educator, the daycare reeks of Montessori with sensory balls, and open play areas!

Pros:

  • Montessori approach to learning! If you’re into it, you will love this place
  • Extremely hygienic
  • Very well trained staff
  • The kids seemed extremely well behaved, and disciplined
  • All for cloth diapering and baby self feeding!
  • Prepare extremely nutritive food! The day I visited the kids were gorging on Brocolli parathas.

Cons:

  • Don’t have an open play area
  • The daycare area doesn’t have as much light / air

Working hours: 8:30 am to 6:30 pm

Cost: 1200 / hour

4. Kara Playschools: Kara is a chain of daycares and preschools that upholds it’s standards across Bangalore. The Indiranagar one is well-equipped with a outdoor play area, and separate rooms for toddlers and infants.

  • Extremely hygienic
  • Offer a daily record of the baby w.r.t poop / pee and eating schedules
  • Can prepare food that is nutritious and hygienic
  • Is well staffed. For every 2 kids, there’s a nanny

Cons:

  • It’s almost like a corporate institution and feels less homely.
  • If you arrive late to pick up the baby, penalty charges can be 500 bucks, for a 30 minute delay
