Serena Williams is an epitome of power. She has shown the world many a times that with sheer determination, one can be at the top of one’s game.

She won the Australian Open when she was eight weeks pregnant and everyone was both surprised and shocked but in awe of her when they read the news.

Williams did not have a very smooth pregnancy, but the delivery and her health after childbirth put everything out of gear.

Due to a medical history of embolisms, Williams was asked to avoid a C section, with the fear of blood clot formations after a surgery. But God had other plans.

Towards the end of her pregnancy, Williams had to be rushed to the hospital, and there it was discovered that something was not right. The baby’s vitals started dropping, and it was decided that Willams would have to have an emergency C-section.

After the delivery, Williams had not one, but two life threatening surgeries as there was a blood clot in her lungs. Coughing opened up her C-section stitches as well. At one time her family felt she will not make it back alive. But she did.

It was a long road to recovery, but today, Willams is back on her feet and made it to the Wimbledon finals, but she lost the game. It is her first tournament after delivery.

In the interview after after the game, Williams said she was playing for all the moms out there and that she tried. In her words, “I was really happy to get this far. For all the moms out there, I was playing for you today.”

So the message is loud and clear. Nothing stops a mom from being badass. If Serena can play the grand slam just 10 months after staring at death into the eyes, we can be inspired and take on each day.

Spots important that we pull each other up, support each other and believe in our powers. Let the world not demotivate you at all.

After all, we are mums, we are super by default.
