Actor Neha Dhupia was in the news recently when she and her husband Angad Bedi announced their pregnancy officially on Instagram. The couple got married in a low key ceremony earlier this year and the pregnancy announcement was made in the midst of rumours that they were pregnant before the wedding.

Angad posted a lovely picture of the couple on Instagram three months after the wedding captioned, “Ha! Turns out this rumour is true.” The couple walked the ramp for Lakme fashion Week after the announcement, where Neha flaunted her bump in a beautiful golden outfit.

She also shared earlier that she was body shamed before she declared that she was expecting. But recently, Neha told Mid-day why she chose to be silent about it.
“I was worried people would stop offering work. It was a good thing my bump wasn’t showing till the sixth month because appearances matter here, and one might be assumed to be unfit for a job. Fortunately, my energy levels are high.” She also blamed the mentality of the system.

Neha and Angad are expecting their baby in November.

When a woman gets pregnant, her employers often assume that she might not perform to her fullest and tend to leave her out of projects and promotions. Thus many women hide their pregnancies till their bumps are visible.

But according to law, every employer must be sensitive towards expecting women and take their health and abilities to work into account.
Every woman is protected under the Maternity Benefit Act of India and it is when we treat pregnancies as something to be proud of and not a handicap is when employers will also accept it as normal. So flaunt that bump, you are making a human after all, and there’s no job bigger or better than that!
