That ingredient that lurks in your kitchen has more uses than just making a delicious omelette out of it (although we admit, it is one of the best things you can do with an egg). This protein packed food is super healthy and should be part of your healthy diet but here are a few other uses of eggs you might not have heard of.
Eggs can be used to remove blackheads and dead skin from the nose and the chin. You have to first separate the egg white from the egg yolk. Add lemon, honey and baking soda because they help in healing your skin faster but they are optional. Apply the egg mixture all over your face or on the problem areas. Press a tissue onto the skin before it dries up and then apply another layer of the mixture. You can build up to 3 layers of this and then once it is completely dried, try to peel off the mask.
When you repeat this every week or so, you’ll notice a drastic decrease in your blackheads revealing the smooth skin underneath.
You might’ve seen your share of egg shampoos and conditioners in the market but nothing beats the real thing. Mix an egg with olive oil and whisk it thoroughly. Apply it all over your hair and scalp. Keep it for around 30 minutes and rinse it off with warm water and a mild shampoo. The proteins in the egg will make your hair stronger and will also condition your hair, making your hair silky and smooth.
Would you believe that there’s a way for you to make your coffee less bitter by using eggshells? Well, there is. Coffee is acidic while eggshells are alkaline. So this will mellow out the flavour and will reduce the bitterness. Use clean egg shells and crush them before adding them to the coffee grounds. Brew the coffee like you normally would. You will see a noticeable difference in the taste of the coffee.
You can make a face mask using egg yolk which will help you in clearing up your skin and giving a boost to your complexion. Use a mashed avocado with egg yolk and yoghurt to make a smooth paste. Apply it onto your face by massaging in circular motions. Leave it on for 15 minutes before washing off and patting it dry with a towel. Use a moisturizer after you are done for best results.
Egg white is an amazing ingredient when it comes to dealing with stubborn stretch marks. Separate the white from the yolk and apply it to the problem areas. Leave it for 15 to 20 minutes or until it becomes completely dry and then wash it. Then apply a moisturizer like cocoa butter or olive oil to finish it off. The protein in egg white helps in skin regeneration and the collagen helps in reducing stretch marks. Do this daily and you’ll see results within no time!
