Maternity Benefit Programme (MBP) [Under ICDS] (Kerala)

The Maternity Benefit Programme also known as the Conditional Maternity Scheme is jointly funded by the state and central government. The objective of the programme is to tackle the issues of malnutrition among women and infants and it also provides financial aid to pregnant and nursing mothers from a poor financial background.

The financial aid coupled with a prescribed maternity leave enables women to recuperate adequately after childbirth before joining work.

Eligibility:

Pregnant women and Lactating mothers who are 19 years of age and above. Candidate must have proof of financial need

How to apply: Eligible candidates can apply online on the government’s web-portal or also contact their nearest Anganwadi Centre or public health facility.

Benefits:

• 1st Installment: Rs 1,000/- on Early Registration of Pregnancy
• 2nd Installment: Rs 2,000/- Received at-least one Antenatal Checkup (after 6 months of pregnancy)
• 3rd Installment: Rs 2,000/- Child Birth is registered and child has received first cycle of BCG, OPV, DPT and Hepatitis-B or its equivalent / substitute
