P.V Sindhu - A True Inspiration
On a Sunday Morning on 25th August 2019 , India woke up to the news of Pusarla Venkata Sindhu aka P.V Sindhu winning the maiden World Badminton Championship - GOLD. It was the most long awaited celebration for all proud Indians. Beating her arch nemesis , the Japanese Nozumi Okuhara only sweetened the victory for this gritty girl. Her journey upto becoming the World champion is a story of sheer determination and single minded focus to achieve her goal.
Born and based out of Hyderabad , inspired by the great legend Gopichand , she chose to train under him and worked diligently to master her game and prove her mettle. At the age of 17 she broke into the International top 20 rankings . The only Indian to win a BWF world championship and also being an Olympic Medalist. Sindhu is one of the top five shuttlers in the women’s singles category. In a career spanning 300+ Wins with 15 career titles , Not surprising that she was Awarded Padmna Shri , Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Arjuna Award for doing India proud with her global achievements .
According to her Coach Gopichand and her peers , what defines her game is her Never Say Die attitude . Not one to get bogged down by defeats , she relentlessly worked on more harder everytime she faced a tough opponent. Her popularity has soared over the years with sports enthusiasts and the Millenial generation . Being a youth icon has also resulted in Sindhu bagging lucrative endorsements with top brands. She is amongst the world’s top 10 highest paid athletes according to US magazine Forbes.
P.V Sindhu currently single is in no hurry to tie the knot. Marriage will happen in good time is her opinion shared by her supportive parents.One cannot ignore the contributions made by Sindhu’s parents who encouraged her early on. Parents who stood by Sindhu during heartbreaking losses , painful injuries and professional setbacks . Sindhu’s Win and her uphill struggle leading upto her Colossal victory is an example for all of us . To nurture our Children and help them realise their dreams.
