Close your eyes. Now visualize a startup founder.

You imagined a hot-shot IIT or IIM grad from the Silicon Valley or Bengaluru, right? Not the case.

Meet Ms. Harbhajan Kaur, who is 94 years old & has shown us it’s never TOO LATE TO START UP!

4 years ago Ms. Kaur was quizzed by her daughter, Raveena whether if there’s something that her mum wanted to do in life but never got an opportunity.

The nonagenarian lady said that she had never earned a rupee of her own. Quite an enterprising wish but her daughter had a brilliant idea to fulfill it.
Knowing that her mum was a brilliant home-cook, Raveena decided to put her mum’s cooking skills to use & help her in earning her first rupee in 90 years!

The mother daughter decided to make sweets, the traditional “Besan ki Barfi” and give it a contemporary twist. That’s how “Organic Besani ki Barfi” was born & Ms. Harbhajan Kaur became an entrepreneur!

With the support of her daughter Raveena, who not only gave the brilliant idea but also ensured that sales came flowing in, Ms. Kaur was able to fulfill her long-lost wish.

The daughter took the “Organic Besani ki Barfi” to the local mandi (or markets) & sold them. In no time, as per her confession, those sold out.

From her first earning of Rs. 2000 & now, 4 years later, Chandigarh & the Kaur family now has an entrepreneur who not only ships out interesting delicacies but also an inspiring tale to one & all.

Her recent feature in GoNewsIndia caught the attention of Mahindra Group Honcho, Anand Mahindra. In one of his tweets, he hailed Ms. Harbhajan Kaur from Chandigarh as his “Entrepreneur of the Year” and rightly so.

Naiyya Saggi, Founder-CEO, BabyChakra, said, “This tale not only tells us that it’s never too late to start-up but also tells us how many hidden entrepreneurs this country has. Every mother potentially is an entrepreneur & her family’s support is the venture capital she needs to fuel her passion & make her business a big success.”

We couldn’t agree more!

Kudos to all the mums who go credit-less in all the efforts they put!
