7 Natural Remedies For Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are one of the many many gifts nature decides to bestow on all us life-givers. As the tiny little human grows in our bellies, our body expands to accommodate it, and along with this expansion comes the proof that it happened – stretch marks! Although there are ways to avoid stretch marks altogether, one cannot rely on mother nature to that extent. As every ailment that has ever graced the face of this earth, the best way to get over it is to prevent it. It is the same with stretch marks.

But what if this advice is too late? What if I’ve already got stretch marks?

Well. We still might be able to help. There are a few things you can try to do to make them less evident.

1. Aloe Vera

Aloe is our go to for a variety of problems. It has cooling and healing properties which help facilitate the fading away of stretch marks. If it’s used regularly, it has been known to show positive results. It can be used in two ways. One is to directly rub the leaf on your skin and then wash it off. The other is to use mix the gel from the Aloe Vera plant with the oil extracted from vitamin A and vitamin E capsules and apply that to the affected area before washing off.

2. Oil

There are many oils which can be applied to the stretch marks to reduce their visibility. These include castor oil, olive oil, coconut oil, etc. Gently massage the affected area with the oil of your choice for a few minutes and in the case of castor oil, apply a heating pad over the affected area (after wrapping that area in a cloth).

3. Cocoa Butter

This acts as a natural moisturizer for the skin which is why it is present in many lotions and skin creams. It also possesses anti-acne properties which also help to stimulate blood circulation, similar to warm olive oil, and thus helps make the stretch marks fade away. Apply it over the marks at least twice a day for a few months for best results.

4. Lemon Juice

Lemons contain citric acid. The acidic nature of lemon juice helps to heal and reduce stretch marks and acne, along with some other scars. Just squeeze out the juice from the lemon and massage it gently on the area affected by stretch marks and wash it off with warm water.

5. Potato Juice

Potatoes are rich in a lot of vitamins and minerals. These are the key substances which help to repair and restore cells. Potato Juice contains a lot of these elements which hello restore skin cells and therefore get rid of stretch marks. Slice up a potato and rub these slices or the stretch marks for a few minutes. If done regularly, it should show visible results.

6. Sugar

Sugar is a natural exfoliant. Since it is coarse and exfoliating, it can help remove dead skin cells (dry skin) from the desired body parts. Mix a tablespoon of sugar with some water, lemon juice, and almond oil. Mix it until it dissolves and then rub the mixture on the areas with stretch marks, then wash it off. Do this daily for a few months until you notice your stretch marks starting to fade away.

7. Alfalfa

Alfalfa leaves contain amino acids. Amino acids are essential for general skin health. Due to their property of being green leaves, they are also rich in vitamin K, along with proteins and vitamin E. Make a paste using these leaves and apply this at least thrice a day for a few months.
