You have enough to go through as a mom without having to add guilt to the mix of emotions. Trying to be the “perfect mom” doesn’t mean that you should be ashamed about every little thing you did or didn’t do.

Here are 7 such things you shouldn’t feel guilty about.

1. Loving your job

Your child might be just a few months old or a few years old, but the feeling is always the same when you think of going back to work – guilt. It always feels like a choice between your family and your job, when actually, it isn’t. You’re working for your family, your child, to have a good future and this might mean that you won’t get to spend every second of your day with your child. Make peace with your decision of going back to work and don’t dwell too much on it.

2. Taking some time off

When you’re constantly taking care of your child and your household, it is very difficult to carve some time out for yourself. And even when you do, there might be a sense of guilt that lingers the entire time.

It’s important for you to know that it isn’t selfish when you spend some time reading a book or go out to meet your friends. After all, the first step to taking care of your family is making sure you take care of yourself.

3. Scolding your kid

You might often come across situations in which you lose your patience and yell at your little one. Neither you nor your kid is happy after you scold them and you will immediately regret it. However, it’s important to know that sometimes, disciplining your child is the best medicine. Besides, you’re a mom with lot of responsibilities and stress, so it is unrealistic to expect that you handle every situation in a calm manner.

4. Not exercising enough

Do you constantly reminisce about the time you used to work out and keep yourself fit? It’s hard when you’re a mom to actually do anything for yourself, let alone exercise. So, don’t worry too much about it and believe it or not, you will be getting more exercise than you think just by running behind your child!

5. Giving your kid junk food

You have everything planned out – healthy cereal for breakfast, fruits for snacks and whatnot. But the second your kid starts asking for pizzas and burgers, you will not always have the strength to hold your own. It’s okay for you to give in sometimes and let loose. One pizza isn’t going to make your kid sweat fat!

6. Wanting to spend time with your husband

You love your child to the moon and back, but that doesn’t mean your entire world revolves only around him/her. You’re allowed to wish that you could spend some quality time with your husband. In fact, it is healthy to take some time to nurture your relationship, as it would’ve changed dynamically after the birth of your child.

7. Not being there for your child all the time

Maybe you’re working or finally taking that time-off that you’ve been planning for so long. Whatever the reason, you might’ve missed something related to your child. Of course you’ll feel bad, but many a times, you might not have control over how the situation plays out. Don’t blame yourself for not being there for your child for every little thing that happens in his/her life.
