By Stage 3, breast milk or formula mild becomes secondary food for a baby. During this stage, training the baby to eat solid food as their main diet becomes critical. It does not mean a baby should start chewing chapati or eating rice, but he must have a wider palette of soft chunks of foods to chew and enjoy.

What is Stage 3 Baby Food?

At Stage 3 of baby food, you must serve a baby with soft, chunky and lumpy foods. It includes finger foods and those foods that you can slice into bite-sized proportions. Cooked vegetables mashed lightly or cereals with fruits diced finely are ideal to start at this stage. Stage 3 of baby food is also about introducing chewing skills to your baby and letting your baby explore and learn healthy eating habits.

Stage 3 baby food has thick purees of vegetables and mashed foods with chunks to bite in the right consistency. This stage helps a baby try different foods with different tastes and textures that further helps to develop their sensitivities to other foods.

When To Start Stage3 Baby Foods?

Stage 3 baby foods are ideal to start after the age of ten months because your child has much practice of eating smooth purees of vegetables and fruits by this time. By this time, kids start teething, and it looks for things to chew. Chunky purees are a great way to help chewing tendencies and also speed up the process of teething.

There are a few recommended stage 3 foods that you may try for your baby:

  • Any kind of vegetables cooked well.
  • Mashed ripe fruits ( mashed or cut bananas are great at this Stage).
  • Shredded chicken, which is well-cooked.
  • Soft cheese.
  • Well-cooked pasta.
  • Scrambled eggs.

The transition from Stage 3 food to regular food will not take very long. Your baby will turn one within a few months and will start eating as a family activity. Enjoy this final leap of presenting fun and delicious recipes. Keep continuing the effort even if your baby resists it until they adapt to exploring their tastes. But please remember that forcing a baby to eat will never help.
