Simeithicone or ColicAid Drop is a drop medicine as marketed by Meyer Organics Pvt. Ltd and it is an OTC, or over-the-counter drug that treats symptoms of gas, the feeling of fullness which causes pressure and also bloating. It may also be used as a treatment for other symptoms by the physicians. The drug comes in various brand names, including Alka-Seltzer Anti Gas, Colic Acid Drops, Colicon, Degas, Flatulex Drops, Gas Aide, Gas-X, Genasyme, Maalox Anti-Gas, Major-Con, Micon-80, Mylanta Gas, Mylaval, Mylicon, Mytab Gas, Phazyme, and SonoRx.
The following must be kept in mind before using ColicAid drops:
1. If one is pregnant or planning to be pregnant or is breastfeeding an infant.
2. If one is under any prescripted or non prescripted medicine or is under any herbal or dietary supplements.
3. If one is allergic to medicines, foods and dietary substances.
ColicAid drops do not cause any such reported side effects but any discomfort felt by the patient should be reported to the physician right away.
Simethicone is taken orally as a tablet, chewable tablet, capsule, or in liquid form. The most recommended adult dosages of simethicone usually ranges from 40 milligrams (mg) to 125 mg, taken four times a day.
Simethicone is also available in drops or as we know it as ColicAid drops that is to be mixed with water, infant formula, or other liquids.
Until and unless one should not take more than six simethicone tablets in one single day unless advised by the physician
Prescribed differently by the physician, one should take this medicine in an exact dose mentioned on the package.
One should swallow the regular tablets and capsule whole.
The chew able tablets should be chewed well and not to be swallowed as a whole
