Breastfeeding is a very emotional experience for a woman to have. Your breasts had a reason for their existence and finally, you’re able to use them for the purpose of nursing your little one.

Breastfeeding is a natural phenomenon for every mother to undergo and it symbolizes the beginning of motherhood. The first contact a baby establishes with the mother is through her breasts. The baby needs to feed on her colostrum in order to get nutrition and develop the immune system.

While the baby is breastfed, mommies undergo a rollercoaster of emotions. This is because while the mother is breastfeeding her baby, two chemicals hormones are released- Oxytocin and prolactin. Oxytocin is known as the happy hormone which when released makes the mother euphoric and gratified. When prolactin and oxytocin get combined, they form what is known as breast milk!

So, basically, the mother feeds her baby some of her happiness with a dash of immunity so that her baby is able to survive the world. Since this is the first kind of external contact between a mom and baby, it is even more special for the mother as it allows her to establish a connection with her young one.

Nothing is more joyful for a mother to hold her baby in her loving arms and caress him as he drinks her milk. We humans can experience such a wonderful phenomenon of nature, a feeling so beautiful that it is literally undefinable.

Psychologically a mother experiences a strong sense of confidence and valor as she knows she’s raising a legacy. As she breastfed him, he grew taller, stronger and wise each day. She saw her family rise!

But there’s a flip side to everything, you see, as exciting and glorious as it may sound, many women do suffer from a psychological condition known as PostPartum Disorder or commonly known as Postpartum Blues. It is a temporary condition in which women suffer a lot of negative emotions like anxiety, stress, and depression.

In this condition, mothers show signs of mood swings, crying, loss of appetite, insomnia and the worst..difficulty in bonding with her own baby! But there’s always a cure to heal the soul! Breastfeeding helps the mothers to bond with their babies and familiarize themselves with the overwhelming experience of ‘Motherhood’.

An innate motherly instinct is born within the mother’s heart and mind, without a second thought she makes a secret promise to her baby. She says “I will protect you and I’ll love you till my last breath.” The overwhelming feeling the mother experiences is beyond compare.
