A lot of women experience itchy skin, oily skin, breakouts, acne, and other common skin problems that make the skin look dull during pregnancy. These skin problems commonly tend to result from the hormonal changes occurring during pregnancy, medication, supplements, changes in the diet, and other pregnancy-related changes.

A balanced diet, adequate hydration, and a few routine skin care tips can help prevent these skin problems and support healthy skin.

Following a good skincare routine that includes cleansing, toning, exfoliating, and moisturizing your skin can make a lot of difference in your skin health.

In addition to this external care, nourishing your skin from the inside with foods such walnuts, eggs, fatty fish, avocado, seeds, broccoli, bell pepper, grapes, and green leafy vegetables that are rich in antioxidants and other essential nutrients to improve the skin health is important.

Another important factor is hydration. consuming plenty of water and healthy fluids can help nourish the skin.

Some specific skincare tips to follow include:

  • When choosing skincare products avoid the ones with harsh chemicals, or retinol, and go for natural-based products.
  • Prefer products with glycolic acid and alpha-hydroxy acid for oily or acne-prone skin.
  • Always use a mild scrub for exfoliation to prevent skin damage.
  • For daily skin nourishment, choose vitamin C-based natural products.
  • Try milk cream or coconut oil to heal cracked and dry skin.
  • When going out in the sun do not skip your sunscreen.
  • Daily application of coconut oil or cocoa butter over the stomach to avoid stretch marks in pregnancy
  • Exercising is essential during pregnancy, not only for maintaining good health but also for amazing skin. Basically, working out helps in tuning the organs and eliminating the toxins as and when you sweat. This increases the blood flow to the skin and makes it look healthier.
  • Last but not the least, try to sleep for a minimum of eight hours each night. A relaxing sleep will keep you looking beautiful inside out.

Note: In case of frequent breakouts or prolonged skin problems do consult your dermatologist for appropriate treatment.
