Pregnancy can be a transformative experience for mums. The multiple bodily changes and emotional turmoils can make it a tough phase for them. However, some exercises can help alleviate these symptoms. Most women tend to skip their workout regimen, thinking it may adversely affect foetal growth and development.

But the right kind of exercise, such as pilates, can be beneficial for both maternal and fetal health. Pilates is a low-impact exercise form that helps improve the core strength and flexibility of the body. Celeb mum-to-be Kajal Aggarwal is maintaining fitness during pregnancy by taking prenatal workout classes.

She even shared some tips with her fans on Instagram. To keep her fitness journey safe, she trains with an instructor who advises safe workouts for pregnant women.

She has shared glimpses of her pregnancy food cravings, her godh bharai ceremony, and recently she even shared a video of herself working out, and we must say she looks super-fit!

So what’s the secret to her fit body? She has been attending prenatal workout sessions with her instructor. Kajal revealed this news by posting a screenshot of her workout class on Instagram. The actress looked adorable in her cool athleisure look and was seen flaunting her cute baby bump.

Although she has been working out, Kajal shared that she is trying to be safe and gentle, and only practising exercises that are safe for pregnant women. So if you are a mum-to-be trying to keep active during pregnancy, we suggest you consult your doctor to know what exercises are safe for you. Based on the doctor’s recommendation, modify your workout regime to suit your tolerance levels.

What Exercises does Kajal Aggarwal follow during Pregnancy?

There are many exercise forms that can be beneficial for pregnant women. As for Kajal, she is indulging in pilates and barre, aerobics, and strength training to maintain her fitness levels and ensure a healthy pregnancy.

She also revealed that working out regularly during pregnancy made her feel stronger and more active. Kajal even encourages other mums-to-be to participate in workout regimes while pregnant. She wrote on her Instagram caption, “I have always been a very active person and worked out my whole life. Pregnancy is a different ball game! All women who are pregnant without complications should be encouraged to participate in aerobics, and strength conditioning exercises as a part of a healthy lifestyle during their pregnancy.”

She shares that Pilates helped her change her body for the better pre and through her pregnancy. This approach has helped her feel stronger, longer, and leaner.  According to her, the goal of aerobic conditioning during pregnancy should be to maintain a good fitness level throughout without trying to reach peak fitness.

As Kajal rightly puts it, there are several benefits of practising exercise forms such as aerobics and pilates during pregnancy. These exercises mainly target muscles, which are usually prone to problems, such as poor balance, lack of muscle tone, and bad posture during pregnancy.

Some Benefits of Exercises for Pregnant Women Include:

  1. Provides Relief from Back Pain

Aerobics can help strengthen posture and stabilise back and pelvic-region muscles, thus reducing back pain.

  1. Helps Strengthen Abdominal And Gluteal Muscles

During pregnancy, the body releases a relaxing hormone that makes the ligaments highly flexible. This makes pelvic, lower back, and hip muscles vulnerable to injuries. Pilates and aerobic exercises focus on stabilising these areas, thus minimising pain and injuries.

  1. Helps Control Breathing

As the bump grows, a stiffness develops in the upper back that can hinder deep breathing. Exercising regularly can improve flexibility and normalise breathing patterns.

Pregnancy Safe Exercises (Suitable for All Trimesters)

Moderate exercises can strengthen muscles and prepare your body for childbirth

Apart from the exercises that Kajal mentioned, you can also try these at home:

  • Deep tummy strengthening
  • Pelvic tilts
  • Cat stretch
  • Upper back stretch
  • Thigh stretch

These exercises can be a great way to reduce pains and aches, and prepare your body for childbirth. And as Kajal says, it also helps you feel stronger, more active, and toned.
