Fact: The COVID-19 vaccination whether the normal dose or the booster shot is completely safe and recommended for pregnant people, those trying to get pregnant, or those wanting to get pregnant in the future. It is safe for their partners as well.
Myth #2: Older women or those above the age of 35 years will have a high-risk pregnancy.
Fact: The age of a person has no role to play in a high-risk pregnancy. It is the age combined with other health conditions that decide the risk associated with pregnancy.
Myth #3: If there had been complications in a previous pregnancy, every pregnancy will be high-risk for the woman.
Fact: High-risk pregnancy does not mean it could be a possibility in all pregnancies. It depends on the existing health conditions that could be the reason for the high-risk pregnancy at that particular time.
Myth #4: Pregnancy will be difficult if it is a high-risk pregnancy.
Fact: If a woman has a high-risk pregnancy, it does not mean that her pregnancy will be more difficult. If one takes take proper care and goes for regular monitoring and testing as recommended by the doctor then a high-risk pregnancy can be smooth.
Myth #5: A risky pregnancy means that the baby will be in danger or born prematurely.
Fact: High-risk pregnancy does not necessarily put the baby in danger or lead to any pre-birth conditions. There are chances that a high-risk pregnant mum has a safe and comfortable pregnancy experience.
Myth #6: Couples with high-risk pregnancies must avoid having sex completely.
Fact: Having sex during a normal pregnancy is fine until the last few weeks. It is the same for high-risk pregnancies as well until there’s a risk of preterm labour. Your doctor will be able to guide you through this the best way.
Myth #7: Sudden or drastic lifestyle changes can be risky for high-risk pregnancies.
Fact: If your doctor has advised you to include exercising and diet changes in your pregnancy, it will benefit your baby too. It will make you feel good about yourself too.
