6 Ways To Protect Your Baby’s Delicate Skin

  1. Choose only natural and organic ingredients: When choosing a baby’s skincare product look for natural ingredients like moringa oil, calendula oil, aloe vera, shea butter, rose butter, organic almond oil and so on.

These natural ingredients will leave your skin nourished and moisturised. For instance, massage oil with the goodness of moringa oil and a diaper rash cream enriched with calendula oil will have a host of benefits for your little one’s tender skin.

  1. Watch out for artificial fragrances and phenoxyethanol: Studies suggest that exposure to artificial fragrances might affect your baby’s nervous system and lead to a wide variety of health issues in babies including hormonal imbalance.

Hence, it is advisable to look out for artificial fragrance on the ingredient label when choosing a baby’s wipes, massage oil, sunscreen, diaper rash cream, shampoo, hair oil and other personal care products.

  1. Watch out for phenoxyethanol: Research suggests that phenoxyethanol is a common preservative that has been linked to eczema, allergic reactions like hives, and skin irritations. It also has other negative impacts on the little one’s nervous system and should not be present in your baby’s wipes as it can harm the little one once absorbed into the skin.
  1. Avoid sun exposure: Try to keep your baby indoors for the first six months. If you have to head out, opt for a mineral-based sunscreen for your baby that is formulated using natural ingredients. It will protect your baby’s skin from free radical damage caused by sun exposure and will heal your baby’s skin damage from sun exposure.
  1. Check pH level: Bathing your baby might remove protective oils from the skin, which can lead to dryness. Although there are plenty of baby-safe soaps and body washes available on the market today, it is important to check their pH level (5.5) to support the natural acid mantle of your baby against environmental stress.

Therefore, it is recommended to use a body wash for babies that is not only formulated using certified organic ingredients but also maintains the pH and the natural moisture balance of the little one’s delicate skin.

  1. Opt for a talc-free powder: As a baby powder is generally applied directly on the little one’s skin, you need to be extra careful while picking the baby powder. Talc powders contain a substance called asbestos that is extremely toxic for use and can cause severe irritation, redness, and soreness. When inhaled, small particles found in talc-based powders can cause respiratory issues. Therefore, it is advisable to choose a talc-free powder for your little one

Use these tips to nourish your little one’s skin correctly.
