During pregnancy or even before or after pregnancy there is nothing like a healthy diet that needs to be strictly followed. The overall idea is to have a balanced diet that contains all the food groups i.e., carbohydrates, fats, proteins, fiber, and so on along with plenty of water.
Most women are unable to eat well during the first trimester and lose their appetite due to nausea and vomiting experienced during that period. But once they enter the second trimester, they start regaining their appetite. Also, the daily calorie requirement increases as the pregnancy progresses and the baby’s heart and other organs start developing. Following a protein-rich diet or a balanced diet with lots of carbohydrates, healthy fats, protein, fiber, etc. along with good water intake and regular intake of vitamins and supplements is advised.
Along with following a healthy balanced diet, make sure you avoid having pineapple, papaya, raw foods like packed salads, raw fish, etc., unboiled milk, junk food, outside food, uncleaned fruits, and foods kept open for a long time. Also, limit the intake of caffeine.
Just remember, good nutrition will help you lower the risk of health problems, support fetal brain development, support healthy baby growth and healthy baby weight gain, and improve your overall mental well-being.
