Every parent wants their child to stay away from mobile, but screen time amongst children has increased due to the recent advancement in mobile and other technologies. Can you believe your four-year-old child can download a game on a mobile? He can now even chat with someone through WhatsApp or click a selfie, even if he does not read. Children nowadays are more accustomed to technology than us.

But children should not be exposed to too much screen time or addicted to mobile usage. Therefore, here are some of the easy ways to keep your child away from mobile.

Encourage Outdoor Activities

It is understood that during these challenging times, encouraging outdoor activities is not possible every day. Still, parents can take their children out twice a week and let their children enjoy themselves. Or else, take your kids outdoors for gardening, watering the plants nearby, walking with pets, visiting parks (if they permit entry), or so on.

Children have become bored as they continuously stay inside the house, and therefore they demand the phone to have fun. When you try keeping them engaged in some outdoor activities, they forget to use mobile. To reduce their monotony in life, let them stay engaged in good outdoor activity.

Do not Introduce smartphones at an early age.

Being a parent, we usually give our smartphone to our kids to play and enjoy. And surprisingly, many parents intentionally provide this gadget for their children to make them eat. But in a true sense, parents should not practice this habit because it encourages monologue instead of dialogue. The introduction of mobile at a very young age makes a child addicted to this and leads to speech delay in children. Furthermore, children start getting socio-behavioral problems.

Involve Children in Creativity

Creativity and other social skills make children grow positively. Develop a habit in your child that encourages his creativity. This hobby can be anything – painting, singling, dancing, doodling, etc. These activities will further contribute to the child’s healthier growth.

Mobile phones make children mentally weak and dull. Thus, parents must ensure that their children should indulge in some kind hobbies. Children should be free of stress and any other distractions. Additionally, for healthier growth in children, parents must create, explore, learn, play, imagine, and innovate new ideas in their children’s minds.

No Phone during Family Time

Do not use mobile phones when you’re with your children. When our children see that parents are using mobile phones everywhere, they try to copy that. Therefore, become a role model for your kids and teach them the importance of family time. Talk to them as much you can, understand their feelings, knows their strengths and weaknesses. Thus, encourage your child not to use mobile or any other digital devices during family time.
Switch Off the Internet when Not in Use
It is one of the most effective ways to keep children away from the mobile. Switching off the internet when it is not in use works well amongst children and adults. It tends to make children keep the phone down just because there is no internet availability. Through this step, you all can spend more time together.
