Although miscarriage is one of the least discussed topics, the cases of miscarriage are more common than you can think of.

Miscarriage is nothing but a condition in which your embryo or fetus spontaneously expels from your uterus before the 20th week or 5th month of your pregnancy. When a miscarriage takes place, a woman might experience heavy flow (bleeding), passing of clots, pain, and cramps for a few days.

A few danger signs of infection post miscarriage include

· Foul smelling discharge

· Bleeding and cramps that last more than 2 weeks

· Experiencing chills

· Experiencing fever (more than 1.4°F)

To prevent the same, it’s important to take proper care, keep yourself hydrated, take good sleep, carry out light exercises, meditate, maintain good nutrition and invest in your health as much as possible. Also, visit your gynecologist regularly after a miscarriage for check-ups. He/she might also carry out an ultrasound to see if there are any products remaining in the uterus (incomplete abortion) and prevent any kind of infection or complications in the future.

Besides having an impact on your physical health, a miscarriage also impacts your emotional and mental health. A woman might experience intense grief, anger, and guilt due to her attachment to her fetus/baby. To manage this, make practice meditation, have a sitz bath, write a journal, practice self-compassion and make sure you involve your partner in every step during your recovery.
