A mother is a superwoman, a multi-tasking beauty queen. When we talk about her, there are a million things that we can discuss. She is our first woman crush, and she is the only woman that we will love forever and ever.
Here are few things that come to our mind when we are planning to visit the Prime Minister of our household. Take a trip down memory lane with us.
When you were little, didn’t it feel like your parents were the richest people in the world? They could afford everything and would buy you all that you needed and wanted. Although this was because your wishes were very small, like maybe a coffee or a cake, it still looked like they had all the money in the world. Still, that’s not going to stop you from dragging her out for some retail therapy, just mother, and daughter.
She makes the best biryani and the best aloo ki subji. Her rotis are always round and soft. Her hands are magical and the way she works in the kitchen is a sight to behold. She’s the queen of the house and this empress makes meals the tastiest they’ve ever been. A nutritious and absolutely delicious meal is guaranteed when you visit her place.
Spending time with her involves spending time with her in the kitchen as well. When you were young, you sat on the slab while she cooked and told you stories to entertain you. When you got older she asked what you wanted to eat and taught you how to cook your favorite meal. Cooking with the pro of your house will always make you happy and when you are planning a visit to her house, you will remember all those masterchef classes.
She is a gossip queen that even your best friend couldn’t beat. She knew everything from where the neighbor is going for their vacation to which trend your cousin is obsessed with at present. And with all the expressions she makes while telling the gossip, she looks the cutest and it is a nostalgic memory that will always make us want to go back to her and have similar gossip sessions with her over chai.
There is always that one restaurant that we go to with our mothers after window shopping, after grocery shopping, after a good bargain or just to eat chaats in the evening. This restaurant will be present in most of the memories that we have with our mothers. It is a special place with food and unconditional love. A place that we just have to visit when we are visiting our mothers.
There has probably never been a time when you’ve gone home and not opened the photo album. She loves telling people all those embarrassing stories of your younger days and showing others all those adorable half naked pictures of when you were a toddler and crawling around in your house. A walk down memory lane with photos on our lap is a guaranteed activity when you go back home.
One common thing among all mothers is TV shows. The list of TV shows that you watch are longer than your grocery list. The discussions you will have on what the lead actress wore and what the evil mother-in-law did in the recent episode is more important than anything else. These hot topics are sure to come up during your visit.
Honestly though, don’t you miss her “nagging”? She used to tell you to do a hundred things: clean up your room or get your things ready before leaving. These might have been nagging that time, but now, when you look back, you understand all her concerns and you kind of miss it. Her dialogue “Precaution is better than cure,” is your famous dialogue now, isn’t it?
When you plan on visiting your mom, you don’t just plan to visit her. You plan for those cool evening walks, chaat eating competitions with her, and lazy afternoons on the couch eating chips. It is your own, personal vacation time, where your own home is your hotel and your mom the star chef who cannot help but spoil you.
When you visit your mom, all that will be in your mind is her. Her smile, her laughter, her love and her unconditional care. Her hugging you, after you reach your home, is a feeling of safety that is needed for survival. She is equipped with a magic that will make you feel secure just by being around her.
It’s time ladies! It’s time we go and meet this woman we love so much. She has taken care of us for such a long time and quite frankly, is still doing so. Pay her a visit…surprise her!
