Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty is a world-renowned cardiac surgeon, philanthropist and visionary. He is the CEO of one of the largest multi-specialty hospitals in the world, the 5,000-bed Narayana Hrudayalaya Institute of Medical Sciences, a 'Health City' headquartered in Bangalore, India, where physicians perform more than 50 major heart surgeries a day. Dr. Shetty first entered the limelight in the early 1990s as Mother Teresa’s cardiologist. He was the first in India to perform heart surgery on newborns. He has been honored with many awards over the years, most notably the Padma Bhushan, (one of the highest awards given to a civilian in India) for Medicine in 2012.
