Hello mommies most of you all know Atarah did not teeth and she used her gums to chew and eat. Like all the mothers I was also worried but her Paediatrician assured me that it is normal and it may take 2 yrs also. Few even suggested she might have calcium deficiency but I was confident that its just not possible, She eats eggs, chicken, mutton bones soup, milk, cheese, paneer etc on regular basis.
Many loved her toothless grin and I have enough and enough of photos of that. So finally as she completed 16 months the lower central incisor erupted and only by last week it was visible and now the top central incisor can be seen Yayyyyy. As usual I did some R&D work on this 😛, What are all the reasons for delayed teething?
1. It's Hereditary if anyone in the family had late teething then possibly baby will teeth late.
2. Calcium deficiency but its very rare these days because the supplements are given .
3. If the baby has Hypothyroidism then delay will be there, So do check.
So in Atarah's case it was Hereditary and the culprit was none other than me 😊, I started teething by 14 months only and trust me I have strongest teeth with no Cavities. I also confirmed from few blood relatives and many had late teething.
I was well informed during her weaning phase that babies does not need teeth to grind and their gums are strong enough to bite and chew, So without 2nd thought I gave her everything to bite and she got used to it. The best thing about late teething is she did not bite while breastfeeding 😉 and I didn't had to run behind her to brush.
So in case if your baby is not teething early do not worry, Just wait till 12 months and check if it's Hereditary if not consult your Paediatrician and go for calcium deficiency test and thyroid test.
I'm going to share a tradition which we follow when the first tooth erupts.. wait pleaseeeee.
